Breakers win 2 in a row to start season

AFTER kicking off for 2021 last month with its opening round, the AFL North Coast season continued with Round 2 last weekend.

The Coffs Harbour Breakers won their second straight match to start the season; a 15.11 (101) to 8.11 (59) victory against the Northern Beaches Blues in Woolgoolga.

The Lismore Swans went to the top of the ladder with a 18.29 (137) to 8.4 (52) win at home against the Port Macquarie Magpies.

The Sawtell/Toormina Saints earnt their first win of the season crushing the Nambucca Valley Lions 18.20 (128) to 0.1 (1) at Richardson Park.

The Grafton Tigers also earnt their first win of the season in Round 2 thumping the Casino Lions 34.26 (230) to 1.3 (9).

The second round of the AFL North Coast’s women’s competition was also decided last weekend.

The Coffs Harbour Breakers won their second straight match to start the season beating the Northern Beaches Blues 10.3 (63) to 1.1 (7).

Playing in their first ever women’s match in the AFL North Coast competition, the Lismore Swans got their debut off to a winning note with a 2.9 (21) to 1.1 (7) victory at home against the Port Macquarie Magpies.
