SAWTELL Cricket Club will host this season’s grand final of the North Coast Cricket Council’s Premier League after finishing as minor premiers for season 2020/21.
Sawtell clinched the minor premiership and earnt grand final hosting rights with a final round win on the road against Harwood.
Sawtell will play the winner of the preliminary final between Valleys Cricket and Northern Districts, a two-day match set to be played this weekend at Phillip Hughes Oval.
Sawtell ended its regular season with a 65-run win against Harwood at Harwood Oval.
Sawtell posted an opening total of 9/183 as captain Richie Gallichan top scored with 46 ably supported by Trent Dierick with 45.
The Sawtell bowlers then sealed the deal, bowling out Harwood for 118.
Jack Horseman produced a sensational spell taking 5/23 from his 6.3 overs.
Valleys Cricket and Northern Districts Rebels will meet for the second time in as many weeks as they play off for a grand final spot, after Valleys took the honours in their one-day match in the final round last weekend.
Valleys finished the season second on the ladder after a four wicket win against the Rebels at Phillip Hughes Oval.
Rebels posted an opening total of 152, with Ben Pierce the best of the Valleys bowlers taking 4/21 from his 6.2 overs.
Stuart Moore took 3/20 from his 8 overs including 5 maidens.
Ben Pierce and Adam Turner led the successful chase for Valleys as Pierce finished on 64, while Turner finished unbeaten on 49 not out.
