
Sawtell have shown exactly why they are the defending champions with a 69-run win against the Northern Districts Rebels in Woolgoolga, during the latest round of the Coffs Harbour District Cricket Association’s first grade season.
Sawtell opened the batting and were dismissed for 146 with Tomas Neal top scoring on 48.
Parvinder Nagra and Karan Singh did the bulk of the damage for the Rebels with Nagra taking 3/30 from his 8 overs, while Singh took 3/27 from 7 overs.
Defending 146, the Sawtell bowlers delivered in spades dismissing the Rebels for 77.
Scott Griffiths produced an unbelievable spell taking 4/1 from his 3 overs.
Jake McMillan also bowled well for Sawtell taking 3/13 from 6.4 overs.
The win was Sawtell’s fourth in a row and sees them move into second on the first-grade ladder.
Sawtell are in a good position after day one of their North Coast Cricket Council’s Premier League match against the Northern Districts Rebels at Richardson Park.
The Rebels will resume on Day 2 at 6/143, with Alex Byrne top scoring for the Rebels with 46 while Damon Rootes finished on 42.
Trent Dierick took 3/40 from his 20.4 overs.
Harwood are in a winning position after Day 1 of their Premier League match against Valleys Cricket at Harwood Oval.
Harwood bowled out Valleys for 153 and resume at 1/11.
Sam Elder top scored for Valleys with 45.
