Coffs Colts have earnt local bragging rights after beating Diggers Cricket Club Inc. in their local derby, during the latest round of the Coffs Harbour District Cricket Association’s First Grade season.
Coffs Colts beat the ladder leaders by 36 runs in their Round 7 match at Fitzroy Oval.
Colts opened the batting and posted 4/197 from its 40 overs, led by an unbeaten 66 from Troy Britnell.
The Colts bowlers then took over to dismiss Diggers for 161 thanks in large part to a top spell from Ryan Gilkinson who took 3/18 from his 5.4 overs.
The win was the Colts third of the season while Diggers have lost their last two after opening the season with five straight wins.
Nana Glen beat Sawtell
Nana Glen won their third match in a row with a five-wicket victory against Sawtell in their one-day match at Coffs Coast Sport & Leisure Park.
Set 194 for victory, Nana Glen reached the total with three overs to spare guided home by an unbeaten knock of 57 from Perry Gordon.
After losing their opening two matches of the season, Nana Glen are now the form team of the competition having won their past three.
Rebels beat Valleys
A dominant bowling performance saw the Northern Districts Rebels beat Valleys Cricket by seven wickets in their match at Macksville.
The Rebels dismissed Valleys for 67 with Hamish Rissel the chief destroyer taking 4/11.
