The Coffs Harbour Suns have cemented their top-4 position in the state with a 66-64 win against Norths Bears in Sydney.
The Suns won the sixth of their opening seven games to start their Waratah League Youth Men’s season.
Cody Woods top scored for the Suns with 15 points, while Sam Russo and Ashley Schellenberger both scored 11 points.
Despite the win, Suns coach Blake Kelly indicated there was still a lot of room for improvement.
“We didn’t fix the offensive rebounding problem, and we didn’t execute our offensive or defensive game plan and were lucky they didn’t make shots,” he said.
“We now have three weeks to regroup and hopefully get our injuired players back and keep moving forward.”
The Suns are currently third on the ladder with a 6-1 record in their state-wide representative competition.
The Suns return to Sydney for their next game when they travel to take on the Hills Hornets on Saturday, May 4.
The Suns next home game is on Saturday, May 11 when they host the Norths Bears at Sportz Central.
